SAYINGS ABOUT SANGRUR HERITAGE PRESERVATION SOCIETY

FROM THE DESK OF CHAIRMAN

It is our kind duty to preserve the heritage monuments. The preserving of monuments is a very complicated and unique work. It is a work that requires proper dedication and will power. Then we all collectively thought to make an organisation i.e. SANGRUR HERITAGE PRESERVATION SOCIETY. About 70 years ago, Sangrur was a very beautiful city with lush green gardens and fields. It was known as The City of Gardens but with the passage of time, many of its buildings have been demolished. It is the duty of every citizen to be responsible for his city. The culture and heritage should be preserved for the younger generations.

SECRETARY'S WORDS

"The Present generation has a sacred duty to preserve, protect and pass on the monumental heritage intact to the posterity" these words totally say that it is our first duty to preserve the historical monuments, antiques and all. I was a guy who didn't even know about history. A miracle occured in my life,in 1993, I saw a pamphlet lying and read that it was about the old Sangrur which was supposed to be inaugrated by Saggu Jatt. Then I conducted several researches about Sangrur but I became a failure in that topic. With my hardwork and my working of day in and day out, I succeeded and wrote two books till date. Mohhamad Alberuni said in the "KITAB - UL - HIND" that Indians have interests in myths, poems, holy books, stories but they are real failures in the matters of history. We have started this preservation work so that the upcoming generations could know much more about it as we got to know more about the Harrapan and Mohen-Jadoron civilisations by the 1924 digging. In the same way, our present could tell us a lot more about the past.

SINCERELY,

RAJEEV JINDAL,

SECRETARY

SANGRUR HERITAGE PRESERVATION SOCIETY
